THE first Holmfirth Festival Of Folk will be a genuine community event, say organisers, who's persuaded most of the town's pubs and hotels to get involved.
It takes place from Friday May 5 to 7 and The Picturedrome will be the venue for the main concerts featuring The Strawbs, John Martyn and the Doonan Family Band.
Tickets are now available. A special event on Sunday afternoon at the Picturedrome will be the Brian Lawton Memorial Concert featuring those artists who have volunteered their support and services for no fee.
Dance sides will be out and about in the usual places and will process through the streets on Saturday afternoon.
A ceilidh will be held in the Market Hall on Saturday evening.
Folk clubs, singarounds, sessions, workshops and all the events in the pubs will all be free of charge although there will be people with buckets trying to part you from your money!
Waking the Witch will be appearing at CragRats on Saturday afternoon and tickets are available from the theatre ticket hotline, telephone 01484 691323
