A SWEET-MAKER has won approval to extend its Elland factory.

Joseph Dobson and Sons asked Calderdale Council for permission to extend its premises in Northgate.

The plans for the factory, which is within the town centre, include a 7.5-metre high extension with a low-angled roof.

A meeting of Calder- dale's planning committee this week heard that there had been two letters of objection to the plans.

One included a five-name petition.

Objections included lack of access, parking facilities for employees and a loading bay for deliveries.

Objectors also said the plans would affect the character and setting of nearby buildings.

But the plans, which will create four extra jobs at the factory, were permitted.
