A 25-YEAR-OLD motor- cyclist died shortly after a crash.

Roderick Justin Morrell died soon after he was taken to hospital after the smash at a roundabout.

Mr Morrell, an electrician who lived in Waterloo, was riding his red Honda CBR600 on Huddersfield Road towards West Bretton when he crashed at 10am on Sunday.

The roundabout is where the A637 Huddersfield Road meets the A636 Denby Dale Road into Wakefield.

Mr Morrell was taken to Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield with serious injuries, but died a short time later.

Floral tributes have already began to appear at the site.

One reads: "The best brother anyone could ask for and my best friend. I will always miss him and I will always love him. XXX"

Police have now appealed for anyone who saw Mr Morrell riding his bike on Sunday morning to contact them.

A spokeswoman said: "We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the motorbike being ridden on Huddersfield Road towards West Bretton or the accident itself."

The junction was sealed off for several hours after the tragedy while police accident investigation experts worked there.
