BINS on a Huddersfield street have not been collected for more than a month.
Brian McCreadie and his neighbours on Dolfin Place in Bradley haven’t had their green bins emptied since September.
He said: “They were collected as normal on September 25, but the workers put stickers on them saying green bin collection was switching from the fourth week of each month to the second.”
But when 59-year-old Brian called Kirklees Council he was told that the stickers were wrong and that monthly collections would continue on week four, as normal.
He said: “I later spoke to a supervisor who said we had moved to week two.
“But when I checked on the council’s website, it said we were still on week four.”
And on Monday the council told Brian to expect a green bin collection next Tuesday – which is week one of November.
Brian, who has lived on Dolfin Place for 27 years, said: “The council have been dreadful. Everyone I speak to gives me a different answer.”
As it is more than a month since the last collection Brian and wife Hazel have run out of room for their recyclable waste.
He said: “We’re having to put recyclable stuff in the grey bin now.”
A Kirklees spokeswoman apologised for the confusion.
She said: “There was a problem when the new cycle of collections was omitted from the computer system. The problem has now been rectified.
“Arrangements are in hand to empty those bins which were missed and ensure the stickers are correct for future collections. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused which was entirely our error.”
