A man whose penis and a testicle were ripped off in a Huddersfield accident in the 1970s now has bionic manhood.
Mohammed Abad, 43, was lucky to survive after he was run over on Bradford Road, Fartown, in 1978, aged six.
Following his horror incident a simple fleshy tube was attached by doctors.
But now, for the first time, he has a fully functioning package – complete with “on” and “off” buttons.
The eight inch member is the culmination of years of surgery for Mohammed, who first featured in the media in 2011.
But his bid to finally lose his virginity and father children has been dealt a blow after his wife walked out on him.
The pair wed two years ago but she only found out about his condition on their first night as a married couple.
She left him last year after becoming tired of waiting.
He said he would be up front with any future partner.
“I do regret that,” he said. “I broke down on our wedding night and told her.
“She said she’d stay with me until I got my problem solved.
“But after I was in all the papers and TV in 2013, obviously her parents got to know.
“In our culture, if you’re not pregnant three months after you marry, people start to ask questions.
“Last year she walked out on me – she has needs and I just couldn’t provide for them because my operation was taking too long.
“She’s moving on but I understand why she had to leave. We keep in touch.”
Mohammed, who moved to Edinburgh as teenager, said he would be working to lose his single tag, and ultimately his virginity, in the next few months.
He is not allowed to have intercourse yet but has been preparing for that special lady.
He joked: “After the surgery you have to keep it inflated for two weeks.
“Thankfully I have everything I need at home and didn’t have to go out.”
And he said he’d had an amusing mishap the other day after practising how to use the on and off buttons.
“I managed to get it up but I couldn’t get it down again!” he said.
“There’s a button in my testicle under the skin and I couldn’t find it.
“I was panicking.
“It was inflated for 55 minutes in the end.”
Doctors have given Mohammed a generous eight inches of manhood and he said it was impressive how it worked.
“I press a button and there’s two inflatable rods that draw fluid from a reservoir in my stomach,” he explained.
“I hear a vibrating noise and it literally goes up in seconds.”
The uplifting surgery is the first in Britain and Mohammed is the first in the world to have it due to an accidental amputation.
Along with the saucier side of things it has also allowed him to pass urine standing up for the first time.
Mohammed said it was a huge relief to finally be like every other man and said he was hoping to appear on This Morning with Holly and Phillip next week.
And he said he had no regrets about sharing his embarrassing body with the world.
“I want everybody to know what I’ve been going through,” he said. “I just wanted to be normal. I feel brilliant now, on top of the world!”
Mohammed’s life changing procedure have been featured on Channel Four show Embarrassing Bodies several times.
He approached the show after his surgery in 2012 was called off due to his ill health as doctors discovered he was diabetic.
But he became tired of waiting to be referred back to London and contacted the prime time show for help.
While the surgery has been done on the NHS, Channel 4 bosses have paid for his travel and expenses in exchange for featuring him on TV.
It took surgeons at University College London three years to mould Mohammed’s new member using skin taken from his arm.
Over the past three years he has had a total of 119 operations and one final 11-hour procedure to fit the inflation system.
He now has one last out-patient appointment and hopes the ingenious device will last for the rest of his life.
Mo, who still has relatives in Fartown and Dalton, told the Examiner the horror accident that cost him his manhood happened when he was heading home from Birkby Junior School in 1978.
He said: “In those days you used to get escorted home for lunch.
“I was messing about with school friends and we were throwing snowballs at each other.
“There must’ve been eight or nine of us and I got the last throw in as we were about to cross Bradford Road.
“In retaliation a girl pushed me into the road and I got hit by a car and was dragged for 600ft down the road.
“They gave me 12 hours to live. I was taken to HRI and then Bradford St Luke’s.”
Mo miraculously survived but spent the next 18 months in and out of hospital.
At the time doctors built him a tube using skin from his leg so he could urinate, but his new penis was entirely without sensation and had no sexual function.
He is now able to pass urine and ejaculate.
Experts believe he could one day father the two children he desires.
Mo said he had no grudge against the girl who pushed him into the road and had no idea if she knew what had happened to him.
He said: “I don’t think it was malicious. It could have happened to anyone as there was other people out there.
“I’ve never seen her since it happened and I don’t know where she is now.”
Mo returned to school in Huddersfield, moving on to high school in the town before his family moved to Scotland when he was 13.
He said: “School was a nightmare, it was horrendous. I used to get teased and emotionally bullied.”
