A RESTAURANT owner who lost his brother to cancer will hold a special dinner to raise money for research into the disease.

Abdul Hafiz is inviting guests to Saim’s Restaurant, Bradford Road, Hillhouse, on January 26 for an evening of contemporary Halal Punjabi cuisine, live music and a raffle prize draw in aid of Yorkshire Cancer Research.

Mr Hafiz was told this week to pull down unauthorised extensions to his ‘Los Angeles-style’ mansion in Birkby.

His brother, Abdul Latif, died four years ago at the age of 57 after a battle with prostate cancer.

Mr Hafiz said: “Thanks to the work of Yorkshire Cancer Research doctors were able to prolong his life. We would like to give something back to this wonderful charity by hosting this fundraising dinner and raising awareness of the prevalence of cancer.”

The Bradford Road Pharmacy, where Mr Hafiz also works, has donated fragrances for the raffle.

Tickets for the evening, which starts at 7pm and includes a four-course meal, are £15. To book contact the restaurant on 01484 539444.
