HER X Factor rivals get to enjoy the sun in Dubai, the Caribbean and Las Vegas.

Carolynne Poole has to make do with a damp outing to the English Midlands.

But the talent show hopeful admitted: “I would have sung in my own back garden in Birkby to get through in this competition.”

Carolynne will be back on our TV screens this weekend as the show broadcasts the judges’ houses stages.

She will be up against five other singers in the Over 28s category, all aiming to impress Take That star Gary Barlow, at a stately home in Northamptonshire.

Barlow is also joined by a special guest – former judge Cheryl Cole, who is flown in to the camp.

And although Carolynne is sworn to secrecy about how she progresses, she is delighted to have grabbed a second chance on the hugely-popular TV talent show.

Last year, she reached the same stage of the contest but was rejected by Louis Walsh.

“That’s one of the reasons I’m glad we stayed in England; the flight home from Las Vegas last year was so awful after I didn’t make it through.

“This year there was no jet lag, no long journeys and I get to grab more sleep to prepare for my audition.

“I’m up against some really talented people and I think the competition this year is far tougher than last, but I know I’m in better shape, vocally and personally.”

Carolynne revealed earlier in the new series about the personal heartbreak she went through last year.

That included problems in her marriage to former footballer David Poole and the failed attempts to have a family through IVF.

But she admits: “I’m a tough Yorkshire girl, a real Yorkshire Terrier, and I won’t give up.

“My cousin, Danielle Titterington, moved in with me and helped me through the problems. She let me sulk for a while but then kicked my backside and made me rediscover my confidence.

“We had grown up together in Yorkshire and we were real feisty kids, always getting into scrapes. But we also did a lot of singing and dancing together.

“It wasn’t an easy decision to come back for another go as I was devastated by what happened last time.

“It was heartbreaking but now I feel a lot stronger and more together.

“Winning through to this stage means so much. And singing for Gary Barlow means a whole lot more than it did than singing for Louis Walsh; I know I have to be at my best to impress him.

“There is a lot of competition and we are all determined to push ourselves, but we do get on well together and have had a lot of fun so far.”

Gary will be Lord of the Manor at a stately home in the rolling English countryside to meet the Overs; Nicole is at a luxury resort in Dubai with the Boys; Tulisa is on the Caribbean island of St Lucia to greet the Girls; while Louis is in the city that dubs itself the ‘entertainment capital of the world’ – Las Vegas with the Groups.

The mentors each have a very special guest to help them make their decisions – Cheryl Cole joins Gary, American RnB artist Ne-yo is with Nicole; Brit award winner Tinie Tempah is in St Lucia with Tulisa; and Sharon Osbourne joins her pal Louis in Vegas.

Carolynne is up against Melanie Masson, Christopher Maloney, Kye Sones, Nicola- Marie and Brad Shackleton.

The show goes out tomorrow on ITV1 at 8pm and on Sunday at 7.40pm.
