KIRKLEES College cooked up a storm to celebrate Black History Month.

The college’s training restaurant, Landings 72, based at the college’s Huddersfield Centre at New North Road, hosted several themed evening meals using ingredients traditionally used in African, Asian or Caribbean cooking during October.

Kalvin Kay is a student on the NVQ level 3 Professional Cookery course at Kirklees College and headed up the kitchen team during the evening events at the restaurant.

And last Wednesday, Kirklees Council’s Integrated Youth Support Service invited children and young people to celebrate Black History Month with song and dance.

There were also guest appearances from Huddersfield Giants.

The event was held at Brian Jackson House, Huddersfield.
