A PAEDOPHILE has been told he faces jail after abusing youngsters in Emley.

The 43-year-old man has been told he faces an “inevitable” prison sentence after a jury found him guilty of sexually abusing five boys in the Emley area back in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Michael Graham, now of Park Road, St Anne’s near Blackpool, had denied a total of ten allegations relating to offences of indecent assault and indecency with a child.

But after just over three hours of deliberation, a jury at Bradford Crown Court yesterday found him guilty on each charge.

Graham, who had no previous convictions, was found guilty of simulating sexual intercourse with a six-year-old and committing indecent assaults on four other boys aged between six and 11.

None of the victims can be identified for legal reasons.

After the jury of six men and six women returned their unanimous guilty verdicts Judge Jonathan Rose agreed to an adjournment of the case so that a pre-sentence could be prepared on Graham.

But the judge told Graham that there would inevitably be a prison sentence and the length of it would be decided at the next hearing on August 29.

“Michael Graham you have been convicted of sexual offences against five very young boys albeit quite some time ago,” the judge told the defendant.

“I will not sentence you today because I think it right that you have the benefit of a probation report but it is inevitable there will be a custodial sentence and a custodial sentence of some length for offending of this sort.”

The judge remanded Graham in custody until his sentence hearing next month and indicated that he was doing so for the defendant’s own safety and welfare.
