A FISH and chip shop had to be evacuated when a frier caught fire last night.
Customers were queueing at West Street Fisheries, in West Street, Lindley, when the owner noticed smoke coming from one of the friers and told them to leave the shop at 7.15pm.
The fire spread down the pipes at the back of the frier and caused smoke and heat damage in the shop and cellar.
Fire crews attended and quickly brought the blaze under control. Nobody was injured.
