Who needs a vase when you can use BRAS!

Members of Marsh WI group Cupcakes and Cocktails have been planting flowers in upcycled underwear to create hanging bra-skets.

Adorning the railings outside The Junction pub, the quirky planters have garnered plenty of attention - and were nearly pinched by some admirers.

WI committee member Lenore Ozolinspeck said two girls were caught red-handed helping themselves to flowers from the unusual decorations last week.

Tails between legs, the pair were made to put each of them back.

Lenore, 42, said: “I was with my husband and other WI members sat outside the pub enjoying a drink when we noticed these girls putting the flowers in plastic bags.

“We asked them what they were doing and made them put each of them back.

“We thought they’d taken just one - but they’d tried to take nearly all of them!”

The bras are part of a nationwide WI initiative to encourage recycling of old clothes.

“We got the members and local charity shops to donate old bras”, Lenore added.

“This was an occasion where bigger was better, AA cups were no good!

“Despite it being a good laugh, it was also quite a poignant project for us as one of our members is currently undergoing breast cancer treatment.”

The group are considering auctioning the bras off later this year to raise money for breast cancer charities.
