PATIENTS in Huddersfield may be stuck with unwanted hospital appointment times after a bureaucratic blunder.
The mistake saw letters sent out with the wrong contact details.
The letters that give patients their hospital appointment times have details of a helpline, if the patient wants to change his or her appointment.
But the contact numbers on some letters sent out by Huddersfield Royal Infirmary's appointments department have not been in use for 10 years!
One patient who received such a letter tried both the number printed for the appointments helpline and for customer queries. But they were unrecognised when he dialled them.
The problem was solved when his wife contacted the hospital and was able to alter the appointment.
But the couple believe that the problem should be solved for other patients worrying that they cannot change their appointments.
A hospital spokeswoman said: "Hopefully this is an isolated case and we will give an apology to the patient.
"If there is an administration error and more letters have been sent out, then the problem will be rectified as soon as possible."
The incorrect numbers published were 01484 482200 for the helpline and 01484 422191 for patient queries.
Anyone with problems changing appointments should phone the Infirmary directly on 01484 342000.
