KIRKLEES bobbies are back patrolling off-road areas on motorbikes.

Pcs Andrew Money and Nigel Law will be leading the fight against anti-social use of motorcycles.

Both officers carried out the project last summer which saw the duo respond to 493 calls in a 12-week period from May.

Insp Jenny Thompson said: “Once again, Andrew and Nigel will be working until at least September to respond to reports from the public, or police intelligence, about the anti-social use of motorcycles in Kirklees.

“They will be covering the whole division in the areas they are needed and at the times when we know offences are more likely to occur. Just like last year, we are confident that they will have an effect.”

During last year’s project the officers seized 12 motorcycles under the Road Traffic Act and reported their owners for summons by the courts.

They also issued 34 warnings to people found using their vehicles in an anti-social manner.

Anyone who knows of a problem with motorcycles in their community is asked to contact their local neighbourhood policing team via 0845 6060606.
