POLICE have confirmed that body parts found in a stable were nothing more sinister than the remains of a dead animal.

The organs were discovered in the building on land at Upper Hopton, near Mirfield, on Sunday morning.

Police were called to inspect the situation.

Early indications were that the matter came from an animal, but tests were ordered as a precaution.

The parts were sent for examination by forensics experts on Monday, with the results returned yesterday.

A police spokeswoman said: “The forensic examination confirmed the organs were from a sheep – as was first suspected.”
