A 72-YEAR-OLD businessman has pleaded not guilty to causing the death of a mother-of-two by dangerous driving.

Joanne Crew, 44, from Wakefield, died from her injuries after her Ford Focus was involved in an horrific three-car crash at Bradford Road, Brighouse, back in September 2006.

The accident happened close to the Tesco superstore.

Company chairman Douglas Blackhall, who was also injured in the incident, yesterday entered a not guilty plea to causing Mrs Crew’s death by driving his Jaguar XJ8 dangerously.

Blackhall, of Lower Wyke Lane, Wyke, is chairman of Brighouse-based Blackhall Engineering.

Blackhall’s trial has been listed to start on January 2 next year.

After a short hearing at Bradford Crown Court, Judge Geoffrey Marson QC extended Blackhall’s bail until his trial.
