BUS bosses are aiming to lure council, bank and NHS employees out of their cars and on to public transport.

Local bus operator First has teamed up with Kirklees and Calderdale councils, Halifax and Bank of Scotland and the local NHS Trust to offer employees and car park season ticket holders free bus travel for a day.

"In Town Without My Car" is part of European Mobility Week.

Eligible travellers will be given the chance to use the bus free on Thursday, September 22.

All employees have to do is show the First bus driver their work ID cards.

Town centre car park season ticket holders just need to show their season ticket.

First managing director Andrew Scholey said he hoped the move would persuade serial car drivers to try public transport.
