A WEALTH of local cricket history is on display at Dewsbury Museum.

The 180 Not Out: The Development of Cricket In Kirklees exhibition is the Crow Nest Park museum's major summer attraction.

The display is an in-depth survey of cricketing history in Kirklees.

It was produced in collaboration with the pioneering Cricket Heritage Project at Huddersfield University.

Trophies, scorebooks, scrapbooks and photos are just some of the items on display that help trace the development of the sport in the area.

There are also a number of smaller displays on individual cricketing communities in Kirklees.

Cricket fans are invited to bring their memorabilia to the museum between 11am and 2pm on July 1.

They will also have the chance to test the knowledge of Dr Peter Davies and Rob Light, who helped create the project.

The display will be open to the public every day this summer.

Among the visitors to the exhibition has been Andrew Gale, who plays for Yorkshire.

The 22-year-old, who is originally from Dewsbury, is a top order left-handed batsman.

He played for England at Under-15 and Under-19 level and is a capped second XI player.

The former Heckmondwike Grammar School pupil made his county debut in 2004, and his innings guided Yorkshire to a six-wicket victory.
