BOXER Amir Khan has been arrested and charged with dangerous driving.

Police said Khan, 19, was arrested on Saturday at a police station in his home town of Bolton.

His arrest followed an incident on Bradshawgate in the town when a man had his leg broken by a car.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "On Thursday, March 2 2006, police were called to Bradshawgate in Bolton at about 4.45pm following reports that a car was in collision with a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital suffering from a broken leg."

Khan appeared before Bolton magistrates on Monday and was released on bail to reappear at a later date.

Khan, who won a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics, is due to fight Scot Colin Bain on July 8 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
