A BOXING match featuring a Huddersfield fighter was marred when a brawl broke out among fans.

Trouble erupted at the ringside in the North Bridge Leisure Centre in Halifax just before Huddersfield's James Hare went into the ring to try to take the British Welterweight title from Manchester's David Barnes.

The trouble involved around 20 people and was sorted out by security guards.

Police were called and stayed in the area until the event finished at about midnight.

No-one was arrested and nobody was badly hurt.

Hare was stopped in the sixth round and lost the bout.
