A YOUNG boy was badly hurt in a hit and run accident in Gledholt.

The 10-year-old suffered head injuries and is detained in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

He was hurt at 4.30pm on Saturday, while playing football near Greenhead Park. It is believed he ran out into Gledholt Road chasing a football and was hit by a car which failed to stop.

The green Vauxhall Astra was being driven up Gledholt Road from the direction of Paddock and disappeared near The Junction pub.

Police are appealing for any witnesses tro contact them.

l Another youngster was hurt in an accident at Newsome.

The 12-year-old boy suffered slight injuries when he was in collision with a Daewoo Matiz in Towngate yesterday afternoon.

l Two drivers suffered slight injuries in Salendine Nook.

Both were hurt when a bus and a Renault Clio collided in Cowrakes Road at 8.10pm last night.
