A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy has died and his mother and two other children are in hospital after a house fire in Leeds.

Police said the boy’s mother tried to save him from the fire which broke out in a house in Brompton Terrace in the Beeston area at about 10.45pm.

The 37-year-old managed to rescue the boy’s eight-year-old brother and six-month-old sister.

It is understood the eldest boy raised the alarm.

Crews found the seven-year-old in an attic bedroom. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

It is thought the fire was started by an electrical fault.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said officers and firefighters were called to the scene and the boy’s body was recovered from the house.

He said the mother was being treated for smoke inhalation and her other two children were not thought to be seriously hurt.

He added: “Enquiries are continuing but the blaze is not thought to be suspicious.”
