A WOMAN sensed a burglar was in her home when she felt a floorboard move beneath her foot.

The 57-year-old woman was working at a computer in her house on New Laithe Hill, Newsome, when a boy slipped in through the integral garage at 11.30am on Saturday.

He sneaked into the kitchen and picked up her handbag.

But the woman was in the room next door and felt a floorboard vibrate.

She got up and confronted the thief.

He fled and she chased him. But he jumped over a wall and ran across fields.

He stole a purse containing cash, a chequebook and bank cards.

He is white, aged 12 to 14, 5ft 3in tall and slim. He wore a navy blue hooded top.
