THE WOMAN whose mum was murdered on Friday night in Bradley was taken into protective custody by police after the killing.

Claire Tootill, pictured,  is reported to have been protected by police after the attack at the family bungalow in Bradley Road in which Carol Berry, 66, was killed and Miss Tootill's brother Andrew Fields, 36, was seriously injured.

The man responsible later threw himeslf off a multi-storey car park in Manchester after scrawling a macabre message in blood on the wall of the building.

Bodybuilder Sebastian Mercante, 40, flew to Britain from their Tenerife home to "execute" his wife Miss Tootill, 31, after she fled back to the UK and requested a divorce.

The Argentinian, who is also reported to have a military past including a spell in the French Foreign Legion, assembled a 'torture kit', which included a six-inch knife, a blunt instrument and cable ties, before attacking Mrs Berry and joiner Mr Fields.

Afterwards Mercante drove to a seven-storey car park in Manchester and daubed "f*** you Claire" on a wall in his own blood.

He then jumped to his death.

A source close to the investigation said after he killed himself police found the torture kit in his hire car.
