A Huddersfield safety group has urged police forces to review their policies for car chases. The call came from Brake after Pc John Dougal, 41, was jailed for three years for causing the death of Hayley Adamson, 16, by dangerous driving. Dougal was driving his patrol car at 94mph, without blue lights or a siren, moments before hitting and killing Hayley as she crossed a 30mph road in Newcastle. Cathy Keeler, Deputy Chief Executive, at Brake, said: “Brake is shocked that an advanced police officer could think it was a good idea to drive at more than three times the speed limit in a residential area without warning the public.”
