HOLMFIRTH played host to a feast of brass band music.

The town hosted the 87th Holme Valley Brass Band Contest at the weekend.

And visitors were delighted to see many of the bands take part in a parade through the streets after the contest at the Civic Hall.

It was the 87th festival and attracted 17 bands from all over the region.

One of the organisers, Kathryn Kingdom, said: “We had to change the date of this year’s festival but we managed to attract bands from as far afield as Derbyshire and there was a very good turnout.

“The numbers were up on previous years and the standard was very high.”

The adjudicator was Colin Hardy.
