FIFTEEN members of a brass band are ‘tuning’ themselves up to star in a TV commercial.

The Huddersfield Vintage Brass band is spending two days in Liverpool shooting an advert for Roxy Bingo.

But sadly their masterful sounds won’t be heard on the TV as they will just be acting. Bandsman Jim Taylor said: “We were approached by an agency and asked if we would take part in this advert.

“We’ll be there in our uniforms but they don’t want us to play, so I don’t know what it will look like in the end.”

The band, who have previously appeared in an episode of Last Of The Summer Wine, were whisked away to Liverpool to film the ad on Thursday.

It is expected to be several weeks before it hits our TV screens.

Vintage Brass is a band of musicians aged over 60 who enjoy playing, but don’t want to take part in contests.

Mr Taylor added: “We’ve been there, done that and got the T-shirt and we love playing, but sadly don’t have the legs to march in band contests.

“We play at churches, community events and in the town occasionally as we still enjoy it.

“When this opportunity came up we were very pleased as it will help us buy some new instruments which are very expensive.”
