A good Samaritan bravely intervened when he saw a takeaway driver threatened at knifepoint in Dalton.

He then managed to detain the suspect until police arrived.

The attack happened last night after the takeaway driver had parked his car at Longfield Avenue and had got out to deliver food.

He was then approached by a man who produced a knife and forced him to hand over his takings.

But as the incident unfolded a passerby intervened and confronted him before bravely managing to hold on to him until police arrived.

No-one was injured in the attack.

A 20-year-old man has since been arrested and is due to appear at Bradford Magistrates Court today.
