A LINTHWAITE man has signed up to raise nearly £2,000 before embarking on a project to help build houses in Brazil.
Paul Stewart, 44, is joining 20 employees from logistics company Bibby Line Group who have been granted unpaid leave to take part in the eight-day project.
Paul, has paid £230 of his own money and now needs to raise £1,700 to take part in the Habitat Humanities Community Challenge.
The cash will then be match funded by the logistics company.
Paul has already raised £400 and is hosting a curry night in Slaithwaite later this month to boost funds.
He told the Examiner: “I have never done anything like this before so it is very daunting.
“Once we are out in Brazil we will be allocated a task to help with the build.
“I am looking forward to the challenge. It is tough fundraising in the current economic climate but everyone who has donated has been fantastic.”
