BUY a brick or do the doggie paddle to support a charity which trains dogs to help deaf people.

The Hearing Dogs for Deaf People group is looking for people to buy a brick of support.

Alternatively, people can take part in a national ‘doggie paddle’ to support a special fundraising effort.

Organisers are hoping to open a Yorkshire centre to train dogs to alert people to everyday sounds, such as the phone or doorbell.

But to do that, they need to raise £2.5m.

They are giving people the chance to buy a brick, with the money going towards kennels, training houses, accommodation and offices.

In return, the buyers’ names will go in a book of recognition and be displayed at the training centre.

The charity is also asking people to take part in a ‘doggie paddle for pounds’ swimming event.
