SAFETY work will mean a busy Huddersfield road will shut tomorrow for at least 11 weeks.

Engineers will start bridge-strengthening work on Besancon Bridge.

The work will close the ring road loop slip road at Castlegate to all traffic.

The slip road takes traffic between the anti- clockwise carriageway of the ring road and New North Road.

Tests on the bridge above the ring road have found work is necessary to strengthen the parapets and edge beams.

Drivers who use the loop will be diverted.

Highways engineers will also start work tomorrow on Lindley Moor Bridge at Ainley Top.

They will bring in some lane restrictions and some overnight closures to the westbound sliproad from the M62.
