WEST Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is appealing for musicians to join its concert band.

The band is looking for new members of any age who can play an instrument to grade six or above.

All musicians are welcome, but the band is particularly keen to find more oboe players, bassoonists, clarinet players, flautists, tuba players, horn players and percussionists.

Band members will perform at a variety of events, including concerts, gala days, fire service functions, carnivals and remembrance parades.

The band has a repertoire which includes music from West End shows, film music, overtures, marches and pop music.

It rehearses every Thursday evening between 7.30pm and 9.30pm at the West Yorkshire Fire and Civil Defence Authority Headquarters in Birkenshaw.

Members can attend rehearsals, frequent social events and parties.

Anyone who is interested in joining the band can contact band manager Mike Fenton on 07770 413213.
