A BRIGHOUSE man has been jailed for arson.

Robert Beldon, of Wakefield Road, admitted setting fire to a neighbour’s car on July 17.

He also admitted criminal damage including kicking a neighbour’s door in and damaging the shower at a police station.

Judge Jonathan Rose was told that Beldon had been in a dispute with a neighbour, who thought Beldon had fired an air rifle pellet towards him.

The 50-year-old then went to a Brighouse petrol station before setting fire to his neighbour’s Peugeot car.

Beldon’s defence was that he was affected from what he thought was amphetamine he’d taken after the death of his dog.

Judge Rose sentenced him to three years for arson and three months for criminal damage, to run consecutively.
