TWO of Brighouse’s best known artists have joined forces to launch a new CD.
The art work by Pennine landscape painter Peter Brook inspired singer-songwriter Roger Davies to write a new song.
The musician sent the song, called Peter Brook and his Paintings, to the artist who was so impressed he agreed to join forces to launch a limited edition CD of the track.
The song will be officially launched this week at the Harrison Lord Gallery, where Peter’s work has been showing over the last year.
At the launch Roger will be performing the track along with some of his other songs.
The CD will be personally signed by both artists and contain a reproduction of one of Peter’s well-known prints.
There will also be a special exhibition of Peter’s work available at the launch.
Steven Lord, from the gallery, said: “The launch looks like it will be very successful.
“Both Peter and Roger are well-known locally but for different fields so it’s nice and unusual that both their talents have been brought together in this way.
“Roger was inspired to write a song about Peter’s work when he saw a recent exhibition.
“He had also enjoyed his work growing up and remembered Peter’s painting of a snow scene being on his grandmother’s wall.”
“Peter was absolutely chuffed when he heard the CD and I think enthusiasts of both his and Roger’s work will be eager to hear it.”
There will be two special launch nights this Friday and Saturday from 7.30pm at the Harrison Lord Gallery in Bradford Road, where fans will be able to meet both artists.
Tickets are free but must be reserved by calling 01484 722462.
