It promises to be a glittering night tomorrow.

The Tour de France 2014 Opening Ceremony and Team Presentation will see the biggest stars from the world of cycling grace the stage as part of a spectacular live entertainment event in West Yorkshire.

And Brighouse band Embrace will be among the headline acts.

The gala night will be the biggest in the history of the Tour, taking place at the Leeds Arena on the evening of July 3, just two days before the Tour’s Yorkshire Grand Départ gets underway.

Yorkshire will welcome all 22 of the world’s best cycling teams, including the stars of British cycling such as Chris Froome and Mark Cavendish, in a ceremony showcasing some of the county’s top entertainment talent.

Embrace will play their first arena gig since their recent sell-out comeback tour and album.

Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh will join York singer/songwriter Alistair Griffin on stage to perform The Road - the official anthem of Yorkshire’s Grand Départ 2014.

Local band Hope & Social bring the Tour of Infinite Possibility featuring 100 performers in the Band Anyone Can Join to sing their festival song “The Big Wide”.

Following their recent performances, Ghost Peloton will be back on stage drawing on the spirit of the Tour de France with complex and extraordinarily athletic choreography inspired by the wheel in motion and performed on film by Phoenix’s dancers.

And finally the orchestra and chorus of Opera North will perform music specially created for this event throughout the ceremony, conducted by composer Philip Sheppard, who composed music for London 2012.

Executive producer Martin Green, who was Head of Ceremonies at the London 2012 Olympics, said: “We’re breaking new ground here for the Tour de France with this ambitious show. It’s something much bigger and completely new to the cycling world. With the theme of the event The People of Yorkshire Welcome the World, this will give the riders the entrance they deserve as the Yorkshire Grand Départ celebrations begin.”

The show will be hosted by ITV sports presenter Jill Douglas and the voice of the Tour de France, Sebastien Piquet.
