POLICE officers joined forces with two town councillors for a walkabout of Brighouse.

Officers from the town’s police station at Bradford Road met up with councillors Howard Blagbrough and Joyce Cawthra to tour the town’s park to meet and speak to people who use it.

They especially wanted to speak to the young people and forge links with them.

Officers said the young people were happy to speak to them and discuss possible changes to the park with councillors, including asking for the lights to be kept on a bit longer at night over summer and for additions to the skate board area.

The officers and councillors then went to the Whinney Hill and Smith House estate, where they met shopkeepers and residents and spoke about ways of boosting community spirit and discussed recent incidents of damage.
