FIREFIGHTERS tackled a grass fire in Brighouse.

An area of land off Lillands Lane had caught fire as a result of some debris which reflected the heat.

Crews from Brighouse fire station were called to the scene along the railway line but were unable to get the fire engine close to the blaze.

So they used grass beaters to extinguish most of the flames and were able to get a hose reel nearby to douse the area with water.

The incident happened at around 2pm on Saturday.

Firefighters were at the scene for around 40 minutes.
