RAILWAY enthusiasts will build up a head of steam this weekend.

Brighouse and Halifax Model Engineers are holding public open days tomorrow and Sunday.

People will be able to ride on model locomotives along two stretches of track at Ravensprings Park in Brighouse.

Organiser Joe Lloyd said the open days will be fun for families this Easter.

He said: “As well as the trains, there’s plenty of space for children to play. Families can come and have a picnic as well.”

The open days run from 1.30pm to 5pm each day. Admission is £3 for adults and £2.50 for children.

Brighouse and Halifax Model Engineers plan a series of events this year to help raise £130,000 for a new clubhouse at the park.

Public open days will take place on May 17, July 12, August 9, September 13 and October 11.

There will also be an event on June 28 to raise funds for the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust, which is trying to open a children’s hospice and respite centre at Brackenhall.
