A TOWN has hosted the first posh jumble sale in the north of England.

The charity Dreamgirls held the special event at Brighouse Sports Club at the weekend.

Posh jumble sales allow people to sell unwanted expensive items cheaply.

Dreamgirls raised £400 by charging stallholders £20 each.

Spokeswoman Kate Hardcastle said: “We believe it was the first posh jumble sale in the North and we’re really pleased with the way it went. We’re going to run more of them in Huddersfield, Brighouse and Halifax.”

The jumble sale included items donated by Noel Edmonds and Paul O’Grady.

The event also featured a catwalk show, live music, hair and beauty treatments and a designer cupcake cafe. Dreamgirls held Saturday’s sale to raise money for a charity concert in September in aid of Leonard Cheshire Homes and the Retail Trust.
