A GANG swooped on a Brighouse jewellers yesterday.

They targeted the H Marsden Jewellers on Bradford Road in the town centre and made off with various items..

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “We were called at 11.09am to a jewellers on Bradford Road in Brighouse to reports of a robbery in progress.

No-one was injured and it looks as if a small number of jewellery items were taken from the shop.”

Police said the gang of men are believed to have made off in the direction of the ring road. Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Halifax CID on 101.

H Marsden, a family-run store founded in 1932, was closed after yesterday’s incident and police were working at the shop during the day to collate evidence.

Jewellery shops in the town have been hit before – the Niemantas shop on Commercial Street in 2008 and twice in 2011.
