A MAN shot by police at his Brighouse home is being quizzed over assault allegations.

Bartholomew "Baz" Buckley was shot by West Yorkshire firearms officers in his home at Whinney Hill, Brighouse.

He spent more than two weeks in hospital and was then arrested and bailed.

Police said he was questioned over allegations of domestic assault.

Marksmen fired four shots at him in his home on January 9.

The officers had also hit 44-year-old Mr Buckley with a Taser before shooting him.

Investigators from the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) are conducting an inquiry into the shooting.

They revealed that a sword had been recovered from the house.

Mr Buckley, an unemployed father of three girls, was treated at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for wounds to his torso and arm.

He had emergency surgery yesterday but made a good recovery.
