A BRIGHOUSE-born mum jumped out of a plane to raise money for charity, Pilgrim Bandits.

The charity aims to help injured servicemen to re-build their confidence through adventure expeditions and raise funds for prosthetic research.

Mum-of-three Fiona Wood took part to help her brother Martin, a Forces amputee who lost his leg from just above the knee in Northern Ireland in 1988.

She was joined in the skydive by Duncan Bannatyne, from popular TV programme Dragon’s Den, who promised to double the amount of money raised by the skydivers.

Lance Bombardier Ben Parkinson, a 26-year-old paratrooper, also did the jump.

In 2006 he was considered to be the most seriously injured soldier to survive from injuries received in Afghanistan.

Fiona said: “ When I came across the Pilgrim Bandits it was nice to see great people helping those in need.”
