A MAN who had been smoking cannabis in his car was caught by beat bobbies walking past.

And the man was quickly handed a penalty notice for disorder and told to pay £80.

On Friday Brighouse police were carrying out patrols around the town centre and passed a vehicle from which a smell of cannabis was coming.

The driver’s vehicle was searched and police found a cannabis cigarette in the ash tray.

The driver, a 25-year-old local man, admitted the offence.

He was issued with a penalty notice for disorder.

Police are carrying out patrols of the area after complaints of anti-social behaviour in the town centre.
