FOUR people have been arrested in connection with a series of burglaries in Calderdale.

Since November 1, officers have dealt with seven burglaries in the Stainland and Greetland areas.

Yesterday Inspector Mohammed Nawaz, who heads the Lower Valley NPT, said that arrests had been made in connection with four of the incidents.

He said: "We aren’t talking about a massive increase in burglaries, but nevertheless I am appealing directly to people to be our eyes and ears in the community.

"I want to reassure residents that we are doing everything we can to catch these burglars, but people can do their bit by taking precautions at home – locking doors and windows and leaving valuables out of sight."
