A BRIGHOUSE salon has given Marsh woman Liz Walker a makeover treat to celebrate her dramatic weight loss.

Liz, 52, worked hard to give herself a new look by shedding four-and-a-half stone.

Mark Riley Hair Academy in Brighouse decided she deserved a new style to go with her new shape.

Manager Andrea Beckie Russell said: “We thought that Liz deserved a reward for all her hard work.

“She hadn’t had anything done to her hair since last summer so it was a wonderful challenge.”

Liz lost the weight over 18 months with help from Your Health Club in Salendine Nook.

The change to her life was so dramatic it inspired her to train to become a gym instructor herself.

She said: “Changing my shape has made me much more positive and a new look for the new year is fantastic.

“It’s been lovely to be pampered and I knew I was in good hands.”

Liz was in the capable hands of trainee hairdressers Tom Jamie Gilling and Francesca Ellis.

Tom, 19, has just passed his NVQ Level 3 in hairdressing and is now studying advanced cutting.

Francesca, 22, is a trainee colourist who gave new tones to Liz’s hair during the four-hour makeover.

They are just two of the students who have benefited from the Hair Academy, which has been run by the salon and Calderdale College for three years.

It also trains stylists from other salons.
