A Brighouse woman is raising funds to help a non-animal medical research charity.

Jane Speller is planning a buffet and quiz night for the Dr Hadwen Trust (DHT).

The event takes place at El Piano’s in York on February 5.

Jane, 41, has been fundraising for the charity for some time.

She recently completed a six month sponsored abstinence from alcohol which raised over £300 and has now set up a DHT Yorkshire Supporter Group based in Huddersfield.

The charity is funded entirely by charitable donations.

Since 1971 it has awarded grants to over 170 non-animal medical research projects.

These include cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, asthma, diabetes, kidney, heart and liver disease.

Over the last five years alone the DHT has funded over £2.5 million worth of animal replacement research projects across the UK.

Jane said: “The work which the DHT is doing is fantastic.

“We hope that the event in York will help raise awareness about the charity and much needed funds to support their work.”

Tickets cost £10 and are available by emailing Jane at spellerjane@yahoo.co.uk.
