A 23-YEAR-OLD student from Stainland has won a competition to exhibit his work in Berlin.

Daniel Blamires is a second-year student doing a fine art for design course at Batley School of Art And Design.

He entered the Bright Young Thing 2005 competition for undergraduates and came out top of 400 entries from 80 universities and colleges across the UK.

The top prize was the chance to exhibit his work in Berlin after he graduates next year.

His work will be in the Wakey Wakey exhibition by 11 of the school's students at The Artsmill, Rutland Mills, Bridge Street, Wakefield from today to next Thursday.
