A Brit pop legend is to play in Huddersfield after a 17-year gap.

Cast frontman, John Power, who last wowed crowds at a massive gig at the the McAlpine stadium in 1997 alongside The Beautiful South and Lightning Seeds, will make his comeback in the town on September 12 at The Parish.

Also known as former The La’s bassist and backing singer, who published well-known indie anthem There She Goes, he will play a variety of his own music alongside tracks from Cast and The La’s back catalogue at the acoustic show

The Liverpudlian musician has been working as a solo artist since the early 2000s when Cast first disbanded but has recently been involved in reunion shows with both of his groups.

Most recently this has seen him take to the road with Cast, whose live performances were described by Noel Gallagher as being akin to a “religious experience”.

Parish event organiser, Sean O’Toole, said: “It’s been 17 years since John came to Huddersfield and this is a rare chance to experience an intimate show with one of the masters.”
