YORKSHIRE will once again be hosting one of the seven stages of the Tour of Britain cycle race in 2007.

Supported by Yorkshire Forward, Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and Bradford Metropolitan Borough Council, the fifth stage of the race will be held on September 13, starting at Rother Valley Country Park in Rotherham and finishing at Bradford's Lister Park.

The riders will be heading for a northern finish in a reversal of last year's north-south route.

Last year's Yorkshire stage, which began in Bradford and ended in Sheffield attracted record crowds and was a huge success.

Further details of the route through the region are still being finalised, and will be released later in the year.

Neil Jenkinson, Head of Culture and Major Events for Yorkshire Forward, said: "The Tour of Britain Cycle Race is now firmly established in the region's calendar of sporting events, and we are delighted to be hosting a stage in Yorkshire for a fourth consecutive year.

"We are working with Rotherham and Bradford, the host cities to ensure that the day is one to remember for participants and spectators alike."
