FORMER pupils of a Brockholes school met up more than 50 years after they left.

People who once attended Brockholes C of E School held a reunion at the weekend with people travelling far and wide to attended.

The reunion was organised by Barbara Kaye and Barbara Jemmison who both left in 1949.

Ken Kaye showed a series of old photographs of Brockholes through the years.

Mrs Jemmison has fond memories of her time there.

She said: “It was such a happy community and a good school, I enjoyed my time there.

“The school closed in 1965 and for a few years now we’ve been saying that we should have a reunion and finally we have.

“There were people who came down from Durham and Lincolnshire and from Bury to attend.”

Barbara Kaye said she was amazed by the number of people attending.

“I’ve kept in touch with a few people over the years but it was good to see some people again.”

The eldest former pupil to attend was a woman in her 90s.

The event took place at the former school – now Brockholes Village Hall.

They raised £125 for the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust.
