A BROTHER and sister magic act have conjured up success at a major contest.

Michael Jordan, 13, and sister Siobhan, 16, of Scapegoat Hill, won the stage magic section of J Day, an annual competition run by the national Magic Circle's Young Magicians' Club.

The contest took place in London.

Young magicians from all over the UK had auditioned for a place in the competition final.

Michael and Siobhan's parents, Mark and Geraldine, watched their children's victory.

Mrs Jordan said: "We wouldn't have missed it. They were really pleased."

Michael, a semi-professional magician, is a member of the Northern Magic Circle, Huddersfield Magic Circle, Merlin's Magic Circle in Wakefield and the Young Magicians' Club.

Siobhan joined the Young Magicians' Club several months ago.

She is also a member of Huddersfield Thespians and is helping Michael with his magic to improve her stage skills.

The pair will compete in the British Junior Magical Championships at Blackpool Pleasure Beach on Saturday, November 13.
